Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

To all Kindle My Heart’s Flame followers in tumultuous and dangerous countries, please know that Deeya hears and feels your fears and sufferings deeply, and bares them in her own heart as her own. For you all, a message of safety and protection, one that carried me above the fray when I was most challenged and afraid many years ago.

Years ago I was involved in a horrendous auto accident and nearly died. Trapped in my burning car, a man appeared from nowhere out of the depths of the dark before dawn, lifted me out and carried me to safety, never to be seen again. Afterwards, I lived in severe chronic and disabling pain for six years, when the Light of my life, my Father died, causing me even further despair about life and death.

Yet, all during that time there appeared to me a sublime Light, a beingness of Love that held me in His hand, and carried me to safety by the side of life’s road. This felt like the breath of God, the living Love of the Divine, infusing me with the surety and conviction of life immortal. This solace came from clinging tightly to the 91st Psalm, also called the soldier’s Psalm:

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God       Mary Sings Psalm 91

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the punishment of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His Angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

“Because he has set his Love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

Finally, twelve years ago, in the space of 10 minutes, I was rescued again by another Mystic, a healer. All pain left my body. Doctors had told me I would be a wheelchair crippled, yet now all the pain had passed, and I was able to begin a life as a healer myself. One by one I was guided to seek Mystic after Mystic, Guru after Guru, until finally I came to rest in the lineage of Ramana Maharshi, Robert Adams and Edji, where I was able to understand how the breath of God sustains my human self through Love, healing, and service.

So, I say to all you who are caught in these most dangerous times that Divine protection awaits you if you can but feel the Love of God within.

I know that is so hard to do when you are surrounded by death, destruction and a world that appears mad with suffering, but I assure you, His Grace is available either through sheer faith in the scriptures, through spiritual practices such as seeking God’s presence reflected in you, or sheerly through Love of the Prophet, Christ, Guru, or a human being who awakens Love in who you thought had died in fear and withdrawal.

You then come alive as a mountain of knowing who you are and who He is. Bring your fears and pain to me; give them to me and contemplate the face of your Beloved, whoever it is, with devotion and surrender, and your Love will draw Him to your heart.
